The memo emphasized the urgency of the submission, warning officers to ensure all information provided is accurate.
This directive comes amid growing concerns over the welfare of Nigerian police officers, particularly regarding salaries and pension benefits. In early February, President Bola Tinubu acknowledged that the current salaries of police officers are inadequate given the country’s economic situation. He assured that reforms would be made to improve their pension system.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun confirmed at a recent interactive session in Abuja that a fresh proposal has been submitted to the president to enhance the police pension scheme. Tinubu reportedly agreed that retired officers deserve improved compensation.

To further address officers’ welfare, the Nigeria Police Force has requested an annual intervention fund from the government.
