The management of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital through Head, Public Relations, Segun Orisajo On Sunday confirmed reports that an unknown pregnant woman died of coronavirus on Friday.
Segun Orisajo also stated that it had shut down the Accident and Emergency Complex of the centre where the patient died.
He said, “Three suspected cases were being managed at the Accident and Emergency Complex of the Centre within last week.
“However, two of the patients tested positive while one was negative. One of the patients who tested positive was a pregnant woman who passed on on Friday. Her result returned positive on Saturday.”
Orisajo further said the hospital management had released the corpse of the deceased to her husband for burial.
He said there was no cause for alarm over the state of health of their workers who attended to the patients.
He said, “Apart from shutting down the Accident and Emergency Unit, the hospital ambulances, ambulance bay are being decontaminated.”
