The postponement was due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with over three games, including Chelsea v Liverpool, being postponed.
The Premier League released a statement explaining that the postponement was due to extensive consultations with clubs, police, local Safety Advisory Groups, and other relevant authorities, with no option but to postpone the remaining fixtures until further notice.
The current season has been tough for both teams, with Liverpool sitting in 8th place on the league table with 35 points, and Chelsea in 10th position with 31 points.
Recently, Liverpool was defeated at their home ground, Anfield Stadium, by Spanish professional football club, Real Madrid, during their UEFA Champions League match. Real Madrid went home with a stunning 2-5 victory over their hosts in the round of 16 first-leg tie.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid had beaten Liverpool in two UEFA Champions League finals in the last five years (2018 and 2022). Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr each scored two goals as Real Madrid demolished Liverpool in front of their home fans.
Despite Liverpool starting the match well, scoring the opening goals through Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, the Spanish side made a remarkable comeback with five goals before the 90th minute of the match.
