Premier League has postponed Friday’s fixtures after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

 

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the English Premier League has postponed two fixtures that were to be played on Friday, as a mark of respect following the passing away of Queen Elizabeth II.

 

Burnley were scheduled to face Norwich City in the Championship, while Tranmere Rovers were to welcome Stockport County in League Two.

However, both games will now be rescheduled.

“As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II earlier today, the EFL has confirmed that its fixtures scheduled for tomorrow evening (Friday 9 September) – Burnley v Norwich City and Tranmere Rovers v Stockport County – have been postponed,” the statement from EFL read.

 

It added that the rest of this weekend’s fixtures will be decided on “following a review of the official mourning guidance, in addition to further consultation with DCMS and other sports on Friday morning.”

However, the Premier League is yet to officially confirm if this weekend’s fixtures will go on as scheduled.
