Presidency Debunks Rumor Of Buhari Getting Second ‘First Lady’

The Presidency has debunked the rumor making wave round social media platforms that President Buhari was getting married to a second wife today (Friday).

According to the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, confirmed that the alleged wedding of Mr President was nothing but a fabricated news to attract public attention. Adding that, the news was a deceptive manoeuvre by those who fabricated the news.

It could be recalled that the news of Buhari getting a second wife had broke on social media, alleging that Buhari was getting married in a very quiet ceremony to Sadia Umar Farouq, the current Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management on Friday (Today), in Abuja.

Findings however revealed that as of the filling of this report there was no marriage ceremony happening at the Aso Villa.

It was also gathered that the alleged ‘bride’, Sadia Umar Farouq, was not in the country as she was said to be currently attending the 70th session of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner’s Programme going on in Geneva.

Meanwhile, another reliable source at the Presidency who spoke on the condition of anonymity, also debunked the rumor of the alleged wedding.

The source said “How will anyone expect that the President will be getting married and it will be a secret affair?

“Nigerians like to gist and play banters, as it is another way of relaxation for many, and they have seen the president as a personality that suits their side talks. It is bad, but that is what happens.

“We can’t expect us to be as many as this in Nigeria interns of population, with some oppositions against the President and we won’t expect things like this not to happen.”

The source added “However, the news of the President getting married today is a false.”

Meanwhile, a former Special Assistant on Social Media to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has alleged that there were elements of truth the purported rumor adding that, the date of the wedding was just not Friday (today).

He said in a tweet on Thursday “Apparently, the second wife story is true. What cant be confirmed is the date of the wedding fatiha. This man shouldn’t tempt his Creator. He just recovered from serious ill health and now he wants to add another yarinya! Second Term, Second Wife! Baba o! #SecondTermSecondWife”.
