The presidency has spoken about a video making the rounds online showing crowded atmosphere of plethora of mourners at a funeral alleged to be that of the late Emir of Rano.
Eko Hot Blog had reported that the late emir, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar, died and was buried on Saturday in Kano State.
In one of the versions of the said video seen by our correspondent, avalanche of mourners flocked around some local pallbearers as they moved a dead body draped in white fabric to an unknown destination.
Consequently, A flurry of agitated reactions have greeted the video with commenters accusing the mourners of defying the social distancing rule.
But in a tweet on his official twitter page, Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari described the video as ‘fake’
Ahmad averred that the video was not from the burial of the Emir of Rano who died at the age of 74.
He disclosed that an official at the Rano Emirate told him that less than 20 people were present at the burial of the late monarch which took place inside the Palace.
“The remains of late Emir of Rano buried inside his Palace approximately an hour ago, with less than 20 people attended the burial, but a fake video of thousands of people has been trending throughout the day, purported to be his burial, it was not, Rano Emirate official told me,” he tweeted.
