Palpable apprehension has gripped the presidency after Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari and influential power broker in his administration is flown to the United Kingdom after displaying acute coronavirus symptoms.
According to SaharaReporters, Daura, 80, was flown in a private jet to the UK on Wednesday (today) for urgent medical attention after battling with respiratory difficulties since Friday.
The former journalist, who is an key member of the ‘Cabal’, a group of powerful individuals around President Buhari, who help him make key decisions, is said to have had a history of renal crisis and had regularly visited the West for medical attention.
Recall that earlier this month, Daura came under intense and widespread criticisms following his call for the abrogation of zoning when determining who becomes president.
When it comes to who becomes president, Daura said emphasis should be placed on competence rather that zoning.
