President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt has moved to counter agitation for a foreign coach for the country’s senior national football team, the Pharaohs of Egypt.
According to him, only an Egyptian will be suitable to replace Javier Aguirre as coach of the team following the sacking of the Mexican due to a dismal outing at the Africa Cup of Nations which they hosted.
“The Youth and Sports Minister confirmed to me that the next coach will be Egyptian,” El-Sisi said while speaking at the Egyptian Youth Forum.
“We have to give an Egyptian manager the chance,” he added, with Hassan Shehata, who spearheaded Egypt’s domination of AFCON with three titles, linked to make a return among a few others.
