President Bola Tinubu has extended has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan for receiving the esteemed 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, Eko Hot Blog reports.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, he acknowledged Jonathan’s unwavering dedication to promoting peace and democracy, Tinubu praised his ongoing efforts as a testament to patriotism that has rightfully garnered international recognition.

Additionally, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for honoring individuals like Jonathan who strive for positive global change and contribute towards fostering a more peaceful world.

The statement reads, “The President states that Dr Jonathan’s winning the Sunhak Peace Award affirms his bold efforts in peacebuilding and promoting democracy in Africa and beyond.

“The President recalls the former President’s historic acceptance of the results of the 2015 presidential election and his peaceful handover of power to an opposition party, which bolstered the nation’s democratic profile.”

Established in 2015, the Sunhak Peace Prize is awarded biennially to individuals and organizations making significant contributions to global peace and development.

The prestigious prize is given in recognition of efforts in three key areas: sustainable human development, conflict resolution, and environmental conservation.

Eko Hot Blog yesterday reported that former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, which will be presented by the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation in Seoul, South Korea.

The Sunhak Peace Prize Committee stated that Jonathan is being honored for his consistent mediation and pro-democracy activities, which have significantly contributed to peace on the African continent.
