The Lagos state government has said it is determined and committed to implementing the World Health Organisation (Who) recommendation on the construction of Primary Health Center in each Local Government ward across the State.
Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Arinola Erinosho represented made this known at the donation ceremony of the medical cabin to Epe local by the Rotary Club of Abijo on Thursday.
The medical facility was received by Epe Local Government Chairman, Hon Adedoyin Adesanya, in Erepoto community, Epe Lagos State.
Erinosho disclosed that the Rotary Foundation had donated similar cabins to Mushin, Ikorodu, Olorunda and Ojo LG’s and LCDAs respectively
Speaking at the event, Erinosho, who was represented by Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim, commended Adesanya for the development of Epe especially in the area of infrastructure.
In his remarks, Adesanya extolled the altruism of the late Erepoto Community leader, Chief Caleb Abimbola, in making adequate provisions for land to execute the project.
He admonished communities to always set aside land for projects, disclosing that another Health Center would be located in Agbala, another riverine community in Epe.
Adesanya assured residents of Epe that all wards in the municipal would have one primary health center, stating that an ongoing health centre would soon be opened for public use.
He said his administration was committed to ensuring residents have access to basic health care.

” I envision a full-fledged hospital with 24 hours service and residential accommodation for workers in the facility. Work will commence here tomorrow with drugs at a subsidized rate.
I, therefore, appreciate Rotary for the donation and other ones ongoing in Epe. I promise to always support such laudable projects”, he stated.
Similarly, while addressing the gathering at the event, Rotarian Philtus Woulf, Rotary Club Abijo President, revealed that the medical facility was donated on the heels of Rotary’s 7 Focus areas which includes maternal and child care and Disease prevention and treatment. The project which he said kicked off in 2017 through donations from members to Rotary Foundation, was delivered in the year 2019/2020 for use due to the deadly global pandemic, COVID 19.
Besides, Rotarian Bola Oyebade, the District Governor of Rotary District 9110, represented by the Assistant Governor, Rotarian Olubunmi Taiwo, applauded the LG Chairman’s support, noting that it would have been impossible to succeed on the project without him. Stating the humanitarian and charitable services provided to the people all over the world, Rotarian Olubunmi restated the commitment of the club in touching lives through projects delivery in the District’s jurisdiction which covers Lagos and Ogun States.

Reacting to the development, Dr Nureni Ayeola, the Epe Local Government Chief Medical Officer, disclosed that the project was cited in Erepoto, a riverine community, due to the non-existence of a health facility in the area. He, therefore, appreciated the unalloyed support of Hon Adedoyin Adesanya led administration in facilitating Primary Healthcare to the grassroots.
The Community Leader of Erepoto, Chief Nathaniel not only appreciated Rotary and the State Government for their collaborative efforts but also pledged the inexhaustible support of the community towards the reelection of the Chairman, Hon Adedoyin Adesanya, for more project delivery.
