EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Muhammadu Buhari called on the incoming administration to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians.
He made the statement during the 2023 presidential inauguration lecture at the international conference center Abuja.
He emphasized that the government’s success depends on how it prioritizes the welfare and wellbeing of its citizens by providing quality education, accessible healthcare, sustainable livelihood, and continuing the fight against corruption.
However, he added that these goals can only be achieved successfully through unity.
The guest speaker, former President of Kenya, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, stressed the need for Africa to abandon divisive narratives on democracy and development.
According to him, divisive narratives often contribute to political polarization, which further exacerbates existing divisions within society.
He also emphasized the importance of the incoming administration embracing new ways of doing things by discarding divisive narratives and promoting inclusive dialogue.
Moreover, the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, urged the incoming administration to rely on the private sector to reduce the burden on government and prioritize youth empowerment.
