Prison Break: Inmates Escape from Maiduguri Correctional Center After Severe Flooding

A security breach has occurred at the Maiduguri Correctional Center, following severe flooding that struck Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, on Tuesday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the unprecedented floodwaters severely damaged the facility, leading to the escape of an unspecified number of inmates.

The prison management has reported that the escapees are highly dangerous and may be armed. This development adds to the existing security concerns in the state, already grappling with threats from terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups.

Authorities have launched an extensive search operation to recapture the fugitives, deploying additional resources and coordinating efforts across law enforcement agencies to address the emerging threat.
