Pro-Palestine Protesters Scale Australia’s Parliament House Roof

Pro-Palestine protesters scaled the roof of Australia’s Parliament House in Canberra, unfurling banners with messages such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that the demonstration on Thursday came after recent internal conflicts within Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s Labor government, which suspended a Muslim Senator for voting in favor of Australia recognizing a Palestinian state.

Four members of the Renegade Activists group, dressed in dark clothing, stood on the roof for about an hour, displaying large black and white banners, including one stating, “No peace on stolen land”.

Using a megaphone, one protester accused the Israeli government of committing “war crimes” in Gaza with the support of the United States and criticized the Australian government for being complicit.

EDITOR’S PICK:

“We declare to the Australian government we will continue to unmask and resist the US imperial, hegemonic and capitalist interests you devote yourself to,” the protester shouted. “Australia continues to enable and commit war crimes as lackeys to our ‘great and powerful’ friends.”

Police and security personnel advised people to avoid walking directly under the protest at the main entrance, while others were seen on the roof attempting to remove the group.
