The newly appointed Provost of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Oto/Ijanikin, Lagos State, Prof Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, on Monday assumed office as the substantive head of the institution.
This followed the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past provost, Dr Omolola Ladele, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, Punch reports.
A statement on Monday by the Head, Information, Public Relations and Passages Division, AOCOED, Mrs Olanike Aina, said the appointment of the new provost took effect on Sunday, January 12, 2020.
Until her appointment in December by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the new provost was a lecturer at the Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Lagos State University, Ojo.
The statement added, “Prof Lafiaji-Okuneye, a professor of Health Education, was born on February 2, 1972, on Lagos Island, Lagos State. She obtained Doctor of Philosophy (Health Education) from University of Ibadan (2005), Master of Education (Health Education), University of Lagos (1999), Bachelor of Science (PHE), Lagos State University (1995) and Diploma in Physical and Health Education from Lagos State University (1991).”

The statement noted that the new provost once served as the Acting Dean of Students, LASU as well as chairman of various committees and external assessors in various institutions including University of Ibadan and AOCOED.
It added that Lafiaji-Okuneye is a member of many professional bodies and had authored and co-authored several books on Physical and Health Education, including the popular ‘Physical Education for Primary Schools 1 to 6’ textbook.
