Eko Hot Blog reports that in a ceremonial event, Professor Pius Olanrewaju officially assumed the role of the 23rd President/Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Justice Owolabi Dabiri and chaired by renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wole Olanipekun.
During the ceremony, Olanrewaju was presented with the symbols of authority, symbolizing his new leadership position.
Embracing Innovation and Financial Inclusion The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, conveyed his well wishes through the House Committee on Banking’s chairman.
Abbas emphasized the importance of embracing technological advancements to enhance financial inclusion.
“The CIBN must remain steadfast in its commitment to excellence and innovation,” Abbas stated.
Fostering Cybersecurity Resilience Meanwhile, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Bello Hassan, highlighted the significance of cybersecurity.
“A deliberate and collaborative approach to cyber risk is essential to protect the banking system’s resilience,” Hassan emphasized.
New Era of Leadership Olanrewaju’s election on April 6, 2024, marked the beginning of a new era for the CIBN.
He will be supported by Dele Alake as the First Vice President, Mojisola Bakare-Asieru as the Second Vice President, and Peter Ashade as the National Treasurer.
