Former Super Eagles Captain Vincent Enyeama said prominent members of the Nigeria Football Federation once offered him to use voodoo during his time with the national team.
Enyeama made this disclosure while speaking to Brila FM on the 7th anniversary of the Super Eagles African cup of Nations triumph in South Africa, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
The Super Eagles needed nothing but victory against Ethiopia to book their place in the last eight of the competition after drawing the previous two opening group games.
In order to avoid an early exit from the competition, Enyeama who is a strong believer said someone prominent NFF personnel walked up to him and asked him to wear voodoo for the game in order to help the team qualify.
‘Someone very prominent came to me, he said Vincent you’re the captain of the team, “I wan give you something make you put for cloth enter this Ethiopia match. [sic]” ‘
‘I told him I won’t and if I didn’t believe we could win fair; if I didn’t believe we could win against Ethiopia, I would have gone back and go home.’
Nigeria however went on to win the game and qualified for the quarter final where they met Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles defeated the Ivorians and Malians, before seeing off Burkina Faso in the final.
