The suspects were apprehended with alarming exhibits, including a human heart and two kegs filled with human body parts.
Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu revealed that the arrested individuals were Moses Abidemi, Oluwo Monday, Prophet Peter Akiwunmi Ifatosin, Jamiu Yusuf, Sheriff Agbai, and Osojieahen Alioneitoura.
The arrests took place on Thursday following a comprehensive investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a young lady, Ms Sulaiimon Adijat, who was reported missing on January 9 after going on a date with one Adebayo Azeez.
“The mobile phone has been switched off since the day she was reported missing. Consequently, the anti-kidnapping unit of the command was drafted to unravel the mystery behind her disappearance, and a technical-based investigation was embarked on,” explained CP Alamutu.
The investigation uncovered the suspects’ involvement in a money ritual referred to as ‘Oshole’ with the aim of generating N200 million within seven days.
Oluwo Monday allegedly charged two members, Agbai and Alioneitouria, N800,000 to prepare the materials for the ritual money.
Furthermore, Oluwo Monday enlisted the services of Peter, who had previous experience in the trade of human parts, to source a lady between the ages of 18 and 20 for the ritual.
However, the criminal plot took a sinister turn when the ritual elements failed to yield the expected sum, leading to dissatisfaction among the perpetrators. Subsequently, a search was conducted at the shrine of one of the suspects, Moses, revealing female handbags and two cement sacks containing human bones on February 3 and 10.
