Angry students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi Campus, on Tuesday, August 6, started a protest against the school authority over the death of their colleagues following a bridge collapse.
It was reported that the two students died as a result of the incident which occurred following a heavy downpour at midnight.
Two other students sustained injury.
It was learnt that before its collapse, the pedestrian bridge linked one of the hostels with another building containing lecture rooms.
Naziru Mohammed, the president of the Student Union Government (SUG), confirmed that two students died while two others sustained injury.
The protesting students blamed the collapse of the bridge on negligence by the institution’s authorities.
The director of public relations of the university, Andee Iheme, was said to have confirmed the incident.
