Protesting Militants Block Governor Ayade’s Office
-
Protesting militants have blocked Governor Ayade’s office.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that scores of ‘repentant militants’ from parts of Cross River State, on Monday, blocked Governor Ben Ayade’s office.
This online news platform gathered that the militants also stopped government officials, political appointees and key civil servants who were not on the NLC strike from accessing their offices.
One of the spokesmen of the ex-militants, who spoke to newsmen, alleged that they have been neglected by the state government since they renounced their activities in 2018.
He said, “Since they begged us and we complied and renounced our activities and surrendered our guns in 2018 following state government promises for amnesty and settlement, nothing more has come.

“We attended some training but the starter packs have not come. The state government has not acted well. We are not happy. They should not take us for granted.”
The Permanent Secretary in the state security office, Dr Alfred Mboto, while addressing the protesting militants, blamed the federal government for neglecting Cross River in the federal amnesty programme.
He told the ex-militants and that the Cross River State Government had done its own part, promising to further assuage their grievances by January 2022.
Mboto, therefore, warned the ex-militants against taking the laws into their hands.
