The meeting, chaired by DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), included DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Commissioner and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that during the session, eight Commissioners of Police were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, while 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to full Commissioners of Police.
Additionally, 52 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 525 Superintendents were promoted to Chief Superintendents, and 84 Deputy Superintendents were elevated to Superintendents.
ASP Patrick Ebhodahe was also promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The promotion process included assessments and examinations for the eight Commissioners and 15 Deputy Commissioners as a prerequisite for their new ranks.
Commission Chairman, DIG Argungu, stressed on the need for continuous self-development and knowledge acquisition among officers to meet the demands of 21st-century policing. He also stressed that promotions will now require formal examinations, aligning with the requirements imposed on all Federal civil and public servants by the Public Service Rules.
Argungu assured that the Commission would ensure timely promotions based on merit, and he congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to remain dedicated to their duties, particularly in combating insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.
According to a statement by PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the promoted Commissioners of Police include CP Benneth Igwe (FCT Command), CP Suleiman Mohammed Abdul (PAB, Force Headquarters), CP Augustina Nwuka Ogbodo (Ebonyi State Command), CP Stephen Olanrewaju (Admin, Works, Force Headquarters), CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie (Abia State Command), CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha (Lagos State Command), CP Adegboyega Funsho Adegboye (Admin, FID, Abuja), and CP Mohammed Bala Labbo (Communication DICT, Force Headquarters).
The 15 newly promoted Commissioners of Police are DCP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari (State CID Taraba State Command), DCP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin (DFA, Zone 5 Benin), DCP James Iroegbunam Nwokolo (DFA, Edo State Command), DCP Felix Nka Oben (Federal Operations, Force Headquarters Annex Lagos), DCP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin (Armament, Directorate of Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja), DCP Ugobueze Ogbodo (Police Detective College Enugu), DCP Ohagwu Felix Ndukwe (Department of Operations, Zone 11 Osogbo), and DCP Taylor Lennox Olarewaju (CCR, Lagos State).
Other newly promoted Commissioners include DCP Sa’adatu Ismaila (Anti-Human Trafficking Annex Lagos), DCP Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo (Deputy Force Secretary), DCP Regina Cosmas Udoette (DFA, Akwa Ibom State Command), DCP Francis Omatimeyin Gbiwen (State CID Edo State Command), DCP Afolabi Wilfred Olatokunbo (DFA, Delta State Command), DCP Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede (Acting CP Legal, FCID Force Headquarters), and DCP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya (DFA, FID).
The PSC has communicated its approval to the Inspector General of Police for implementation and further necessary action.
