EKO HOT BLOG reports that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has suspended Lionel Messi for missing training on Monday to travel to Saudi Arabia, according to reports by ESPN and Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano.
The Argentine star had requested to travel to Saudi Arabia to honour his sponsorship deal as a Saudi ambassador, but PSG Manager Christophe Galtier had promised the players two days off, Monday and Tuesday, if they won against Lorient on Sunday.

Galtier had made it clear that a loss would see the players being called in for training on Monday. Messi had been granted permission by Galtier and Sporting Director Luis Campos to travel on the condition of a PSG win or draw.
However, following PSG’s 3-1 defeat to Lorient, Messi flew to Saudi Arabia without asking again for permission, meaning he could not attend training on Monday.
The situation reportedly created tension in the PSG dressing room, with some players unhappy over the incident. Messi is expected to face disciplinary action from the club in the form of a fine, with reports suggesting that the club is unhappy with the player’s decision to travel without seeking further permission.
This is not the first time Messi’s off-field commitments have caused problems at PSG. Last year, he missed a training session to attend a photo shoot for a sponsorship deal with Pepsi, which also led to him being fined by the club.
Messi joined PSG last 2 summers from Barcelona and has been in fine form for the Parisian club, helping them to reach the Champions League round of 16 and pushing for the Ligue 1 title.
