Public Protests Against Buhari’s Govt Over Insecurity, Inflation Will Be Brutally Supressed – Police

  • “the command will not tolerate deliberate blocking of roads”

The police say any attempt to hold any public demonstration by citizens to express their concerns and grievances over the deepening security crisis and bad economy in the country will be vehemently resisted

The force enjoined those planning to embark on protests to remonstrate with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to refrain from doing so.

In Osun, the police command ordered residents in the state not to partake in any illegal gathering or protest over the rising cases of insecurity and food prices.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo, the police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said those harbouring the thought of holding a protest should stop it as the police would not condone acts capable of causing a breakdown of law and order.

“The intelligence availed the command revealed that some unscrupulous elements are planning to embark on unlawful gathering/protest.

“This protest is to show their grievances concerning an ill-conceived perception of insecurity and hike in food prices, allegedly in the state.

“The state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, therefore wishes to advise that this unlawful plan be jettisoned,” said the statement.
