EKO HOT BLOG reports that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, and Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor-elect of Kano State, have arrived in Lagos to attend the grand inauguration of the Dangote Refinery.
The highly anticipated event will take place in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.
Sanford Group, the organization responsible for the refinery, announced in a statement on Sunday that the commissioning ceremony would be graced by President Muhammadu Buhari, along with five other African Presidents.
The occasion is expected to be attended by all 36 State Governors of Nigeria, as well as numerous Governors-elect, Ministers, Senators, and prominent figures from the business community within and outside the country.
The statement also revealed that renowned global oil traders, top international bankers, and international multilateral agencies have expressed their readiness to participate in the momentous event.
Spanning an impressive 2,635 hectares of land within the Dangote Industries Free Zone in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, the Dangote Refinery boasts a remarkable capacity to process 650,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). The establishment of this refinery is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 100,000 individuals.
Notably, the refinery is designed to meet 100 percent of Nigeria’s refined product requirements, including gasoline (53 million liters per day), diesel (34 million liters per day), kerosene (10 million liters per day), and aviation jet fuel (2 million liters per day). Additionally, it is projected that the refinery will have surplus quantities of each of these products available for export.
The inauguration of the Dangote Refinery marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, as it represents the largest refinery in Africa.
The project is set to enhance the country’s self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products, reduce the dependence on imports, and potentially position Nigeria as a major exporter of these products.
