Raise Daughters Who Can Stand on Their Own – Simi Advises Parents
Singer and songwriter Simi has encouraged parents to raise daughters who are self-reliant, emphasizing that financial independence empowers women to take control of their own futures.
In a recent TikTok video, the singer shared her thoughts, stating, “Please do not raise your daughters to believe that their only option is to rely on someone else and neglect taking care of themselves.”
She continued, “When someone is spoiling you, it shouldn’t be because you can’t spoil yourself. As they spoil you, spoil them back, and let them know you’re standing strong.”

Simi highlighted the importance of financial independence, stating that it offers women security and self-protection.
“There’s comfort in knowing you’ve got yourself. A woman’s economic power lies in her ability to fend for herself, protect herself, and confidently recognize that she is complete. You deserve good things, and you deserve to take up space.”

She also acknowledged her own privilege, explaining that her upbringing provided her with support and opportunities. However, she urged society to extend help to women who face more challenges.
“I know I speak from a place of privilege. I was surrounded by people who believed in me, pushed me, and gave me chances. But many women grow up with less—less love, less faith, less kindness, fewer opportunities. As a society, it’s our duty to step in. When you have the chance to give a deserving woman an opportunity, please do,” she appealed.
