The former Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Kenny Kadri Edu ( KK is Okay) has admonished wealthy and influential persons to make the upliftment and welfarism of the downtrodden and people living with disabilities (PLWD) an integral part of their social responsibilities and humanitarian gestures.
Kadri issued the admonition during a Ramadan lecture held in honour of his parents, Alhaji (Imam) Rasheed Akanni Kadri and Alhaja Juwerat Amope Kadri.
The event, which was organised with assistance of members of the Kadri Odedeogboro family, also witnessed the presence of friends, well-wisher
A significant number of People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) around the community also graced the lecture which took place at the ancestral home of Odedeogboro family situated on Araromi Street.
The Ramadan Lecture tagged ” Ability in Disability “, was delivered by Asseyid Alhaji AbdulHafeez Edu in the company of his fellow Ulamas which include Alhaji AbdulBarry Ajilogba, the Chief Ajanosi of Epe, Abdus-Salam Ibrahim, Alfa Marufudeen, Imam, Esinlere, Alhaji Shamsudeen, Alfa Abeebulahi, Alfa Idrees and Alfa aduul-Rahman.
Citing verses from the holy Quran, he reminded the gathering of how, in Suratul Abasa, Quran 80 vs 1-16, Almighty Allah admonished the Prophet for looking down on a blind man, Ibn Umm Maktum, whose intention was to seek knowledge by listening to the His teachings in the gathering of the wealthy Quraysh tribe.

He disclosed that Almighty Allah reminded the Prophet (SAW) that the Physically Challenged are better in the sights of Allah than the rich he was preaching for.
Alhaji Abdulafeez Edu further encouraged the PLWDs in the gathering to see ability in their disability, noting that they have inborn talents which can be explored for sustainable living. He corroborated his assertion with teachings from, Suratul Al-Qasas, Quran Chapter 28 vs 77, which in summary admonished the gathering, the PLWDs in particular not to strive to gain Paradise at the expense of this world, insisting on personal development against all odds.
He explained further that no matter the condition, their God-given talents can lift them to greatness. Citing real-life instances from our society, he advised them to obey God, do good, refrain from causing mischief in the land and be steadfast in worship, which will guarantee them Paradise.
Speaking with Ekohotblog in an interview, Hon Kenny Kadri Edu expressed elation and heartfelt gratitude for the wisdom and direction God granted the family towards organizing the first year remembrance of their beloved parents. She expressed fulfilment and was immensely grateful for the support of her family members, stating that the choice of providing soccur to the PLWDS was a laudable idea by family members.
” I want to advise that whoever God has blessed should contribute in the upliftment of the needy and the community either morally or financially. This can come in many forms. We can assist the community by correcting bad attitudes prevalent among our youths, we can encourage them, we shouldn’t feel unconcerned about what’s happening in our community. We should take cognizance of everything bedevilling us and come in any way to support and develop our people and our community”, she averred.
The program rounded off with special prayers for the deceased and the entire gathering ably led by Alhaji AbdulBarry Ajilogba, the Chief Ajanosi of Epe Kimgdom.
Some of the members of the family present during the one-year remembrance program as gathered by include Mr Shafiu Kadri, Imam Bode Kadri, Dr MA Kadri, Baba TA Kadri, Hon Kenny Kadri, Chief Mrs AA Kadri amongst others.
