    EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Randle family will hold its annual thanksgiving and memorial service in honour of the late Chief J.K. Randle, Lisa of Lagos.

    The event holds on Thursday, December 17, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos at 2.00p.m.

    The late Chief Joseph Koshoniola Randle, MBE; MVO, died on December 17, 1956, at age 47 shortly after his return from Melbourne, Australia as Chef-De-Mission of the Nigerian Olympic Team.

    This year’s thanksgiving is in celebration of the bequest of his property – jointly owned with his brother Chief Jack Romannes Randle – Eagle Club (previously known as Shell Club) in 1955 as a Trust with the proceeds to be shared by Ahmadiyya College Agege, Lagos; Ansarudeen College Isolo, Lagos; Holy Cross School, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos; and Brigade of Boys and Girls, Lagos.

    Several landmarks in Lagos are named after him – J.K. Randle Memorial Hall, Onikan; J.K. Randle Road, Onikan; Randle Hospital Surulere; Randle Road, Surulere; Randle Road, Apapa; Randle Memorial School Apapa, etc.

    The Lisa of Lagos was an all-around sportsman, businessman, politician and philanthropist.

    Chief JK Randle was Chairman of the Island Club, Lagos, and the Chairman, Lagos Race Club (Horse Racing Club).

He also served as a member of the Council of the University of Benin. He is the author of several books among which are: The Godfather Never Sleeps, God Does Not Live in Los Angeles Anymore, Who Is Fooling Who, The Natives Are Friendly and The Duke And The Soul Princess.

Chief J.K. Randle is survived by a daughter Mrs I. M. Adelaja and a son Bashorun J.K. Randle, former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Lagos State University; Past President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN; and former Chairman KPMG Nigeria; Chairman KPMG Africa and Council Member KPMG International.
