Eko Hot Blog reports that in a proactive effort to address the nutritional challenges faced by adolescents, Randle General Hospital’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrated Global Nutrition Awareness Month by hosting an informative event for the students and teachers of Ansar-ud-deen Grammar School, Lagos.
The initiative, themed ‘Nutritional Challenges in Adolescence and the Way Forward,’ aimed to empower the young minds with invaluable knowledge and practical guidance.
The event featured a comprehensive array of activities, including career talks on nutrition, free health checks, and counseling sessions conducted by the hospital’s medical officials. Participants had the opportunity to undergo Anthropometry, blood sugar tests, and blood pressure checks, enabling them to gain insights into their overall well-being.
Emphasizing the significance of mindful eating and seeking timely medical attention, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin, the Medical Director of Randle General Hospital, stated:
“We emphasize the importance of mindful eating to avoid health issues and unnecessary medical expenses, and we encourage seeking medical attention when needed.”
The hospital’s annual Awareness Month, held every March, offers a platform for free nutrition assessments, education, and health checks, underscoring its commitment to promoting overall well-being within the community.
Through this collaborative effort with Ansar-ud-deen Grammar School, Randle General Hospital aims to equip adolescents with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the unique nutritional challenges they face during this crucial stage of their lives.
By fostering an understanding of healthy eating habits and the importance of regular health check-ups, the hospital hopes to empower these young individuals to make informed decisions that will positively impact their long-term well-being.
