American rapper Kendrick Lamar has been named Billboard’s ‘Greatest Pop Star’ of 2024.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lamar’s impressive performance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year was partly fueled by his high-profile hip-hop feud with Canadian rapper Drake. During the feud, Lamar released several chart-topping hits, including his number one single, “Not Like Us.”

With this accolade, Kendrick Lamar becomes the first rapper since Drake (2018) to be named Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of the year.
In other Billboard news, Mariah Carey’s iconic holiday hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” has now tied with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” as the longest-running number one song in Billboard Hot 100 history, spending 17 weeks at the top.
Notably, this achievement means that the longest-running number one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart are all by Black lead artists.
