Rapper Skales Accuses Police of Delaying His Interview Over Bribe Demand

Nigerian rapper Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known by his stage name Skales, has expressed his disdain for the Nigeria Police Force, stating that he would never respect its officers.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Skales shared his experience on his X handle after an encounter with police officers in Magodo, Lagos, on Tuesday.

The rapper recounted how the officers allegedly delayed him while on his way to an interview, demanding bribes in exchange for letting him pass. Skales criticized the police for their extortion tactics and neglect of their duties.

In his post, Skales described how the officers, positioned near the Fela Shrine/Agidingbi area, stopped him while he was heading to City FM. He claimed that after pointing guns at them as though they were criminals, the officers asked for money for Christmas. When Skales refused, stating that he was running late for his interview, the officers threatened to delay and search them.

Skales continued, “My level of hatred for this joke called Nigerian Police Force will never let me want to ever be at your mercy,” adding that the officers were unimpressed by his refusal to give them money. Upon searching his car and finding no bribes, the officers allegedly tried to intimidate him further, mentioning his money and threatening worse treatment.

In the end, Skales said, “They searched us, found nothing, and then asked for our papers. After that, one of them said, ‘God save you, we were about to show you pepper.'”

Skales concluded his post with strong words of condemnation: “I will never respect those fools. Useless people, the only thing they know is to stop Benz cars, but when things go south, they run.”
