RCCG Pastor, Ayorinde AdeBello Denies Homosexuality Allegations Following Suspension

Ayorinde AdeBello, a pastor who has been suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has publicly refuted allegations of homosexuality that prompted his suspension.

The RCCG issued a memo on October 28, 2024, signed by the National Overseer, Sunday Akande, announcing AdeBello’s temporary suspension alongside another pastor, and ordered an investigation into the allegations.

The memo stated that the church’s doctrine explicitly condemns homosexuality, grounding its stance in biblical principles.

In response, AdeBello took to Instagram to deny the claims, stating, “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.” He explained that his previous silence on the matter had been misinterpreted as an admission of guilt, which led him to clarify his position.

He claimed that a viral WhatsApp screenshot used against him was taken out of context, asserting that the conversation related to discussions on male reproductive health and self-esteem in a youth group chat.

AdeBello stated, “In the past few days, allegations have been made against me and others via a blog on social media called Gist Lover. I intended to respond immediately upon learning of it, but I was advised against it since I was not the only one mentioned, and it seemed our names were used to drive engagement for the blog.

“However, as these allegations have escalated to criminal claims, I feel compelled to respond, as my prolonged silence has been misconstrued as an admission of guilt.

“I have NEVER demanded sex from any male as payment or gratification in exchange for assistance, platforms, or positions. God is the only King Maker, the One who raises and removes kings, and provides positions and platforms.

“I have NEVER had sexual relations with (*******) nor proposed sex to him for any reason.

“The questions in the screenshot were part of a conversation in a WhatsApp group for male teenagers, where we discussed male reproductive health and self-esteem. We talked about proper hygiene for reproductive health and the appropriate types of underwear to purchase, emphasizing that size should not impact their self-esteem and that they are perfectly and uniquely created by God.

“It is disheartening to see that this screenshot message has been mischievously quoted out of context to portray me as someone who engages in sexual activities with male teenagers.”
