Reactions As Hisbah Arrest University Students In Their Hostels For Living With Opposite Gender
- The incident happened at Danbare, a small community directly opposite the university’s gate
- It was learnt that the Islamic police broke into the student’s rooms and arrest male and female students living together
- The news gives rise to reactions of anger.
The officials of the Kano State Hisbah Police have carried out an operation around the Bayero University in kano (BUK) to arrest some Students over alleged infidelity.
EKO HOT BLOG could recall that the agency created by some Northern states to enforce Sharia law has been receiving a lot of backlash over the last couple of months.
Recently, they carried out oerations against playing of Hip Hop Music in Parties by DJs, sagging of trousers or alleged indecent dressing by youths among other things which is perceived to have gone against the Islamic law.
Apart from that, the group’s activities generated reactions as they recently made headlines for arresting a Kano Barber who made a haircut for a client as well as invading beer parlours and destroying trucks load containing alcoholic drinks.
Despite condemnation over their activities, reports made it known that the operation by the state religious Police which was carried out last night generated tension as the group stormed off campus hostels in Danbare community, an area opposite the University where they arrested some students who stay in the same room with opposite sex.
It was said that the group broke into rooms in the hostels to carry out the operation and this create panic in the hearts of other students who kept vigil all through the night over the fear of the unknown as the arrested students were taken to their office in Kano state.
After this was made known, some twitter users have taken to the comment section to react and vent their anger over the operation.
While some tag the operation as a misplacement of priority, others warned that the activities of the Hisbah is dangerous and can bring up another issue in the North.
