Reactions As Kwara State Governor Imposes Curfew On Offa And Erinle Town Over Clash
- Fight broke out again between the two town which are not far or can’t be differentiated from each other, because they share a very close boundary
- This has lead to the closure of schools and restricted movements within the two towns
- There were reported gunshots and use of harmful weapons during the incident
All residents are ordered to withdraw forthwith from the streets of Offa and Erinle and from all disputed areas in Kwara state. Residents should remain indoors until the curfew is revised.
As a result, the Governor of the State of Kwara AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq imposed a curfew on the cities of Offa and Erinle between 6:00 and 8:00 until further notice.
He urged residents of both communities and travelers crisscrossing the areas to comply with this directive to save lives and property.
He also called on Leaders on both sides to restrict and caution their people from acts of provocation, but to maintain peace, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
The reasons for the conflict were unknown, but the people on the bus envisioned that the clash could be due to the land issues. Over the past few months, land matters have been the main subject of conflict.
A source mentioned that the Erinle town claimed that the Kwara States Polytechnic Land was owned by them and not Offa. So these might be the reasons of their clash.
