Real Madrid Held By Las Palmas As Mbappe Still Seeks First La Liga Goal

Real Madrid’s new signing Kylian Mbappé is still searching for his first goal with Los Blancos and couldn’t find the net in a 1-1 draw against LaLiga underdogs Las Palmas.

Mbappé had nine shots but couldn’t score, missing a key chance as Real Madrid failed to close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga table.

Las Palmas took an early lead just five minutes in, with Alberto Moleiro finishing off an Oli McBurnie assist. Real Madrid needed a penalty from Vinícius Júnior well after the hour mark to secure a point.

The match saw several close calls for Real Madrid, including a disallowed late goal from Las Palmas for offside.

Jasper Cillessen, the former Barcelona goalkeeper, made a crucial save on a Fede Valverde free kick in the first half and denied Antonio Rudiger as Real Madrid pushed for an equaliser.

Los Blancos nearly found themselves further behind when Sandro Ramírez, another ex-Barcelona player, missed a chance after rounding Thibaut Courtois.

Ultimately, a handball by Alex Suárez in the box allowed Vinícius to convert a penalty and level the match.

Jaime Mata thought he had won it for Las Palmas with a late goal, but it was ruled out for offside, leaving Real Madrid in fourth place, four points behind leaders Barcelona after just one win in their first three games.
