The Portugal captain, who only joined Al-Nassr in January in a stunning transfer worth £173million per year, has been linked with a departure from Riyadh after just four months.
Ronaldo’s first choice option was reportedly a return to Real Madrid, where he scored 450 goals in 438 first-team appearances. However, the club’s president, Florentino Perez, has apparently rejected the idea of re-signing the forward, as he does not see Ronaldo as benefiting the club’s sporting project.
Ronaldo’s departure from Al-Nassr would be a significant blow for the Saudi Arabian club, as they have seen their lead at the top of the Saudi Arabia Pro League slip away in recent weeks.
They are currently three points off leaders Al-Ittihad, who also have one game in hand. Despite Ronaldo’s 12 goals in 15 matches, his arrival at the club has coincided with a decline in results.
The Portugal captain is reportedly desperate to leave Al-Nassr and is said to be exploring other options for his future. It remains to be seen where he will end up next, but his potential departure from Al-Nassr has certainly raised eyebrows in the football world.
