Over 40,000 COVID-19 patients have now recovered in Nigeria as the country announces the discharge of 317 new cases.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known in its daily situation report of COVID-19 on its official twitter page on Wednesday.
The development comes close to six months after the country confirmed its first case of the virus on February 27, 2020.
The agency also confirmed 221 new infections in 19 states including the federal capital territory (FCT) making it the lowest COVID-19 toll since May.
According to the breakdown of new cases, of the 221 fresh infections, 60 were confirmed in Plateau, FCT with 33, Kaduna with 26, Rivers with 18, Lagos had 17 positive samples, Enugu-9, Kwara-9, Ondo-9, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-5, Anambra-5, Delta-4, Abia-4, Imo-3, Edo-2, Ogun-2, Oyo-2, Osun-2, Bauchi-1, Kano-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 53,021 with 40,281 discharged and 1,010 deaths recorded with new fatalities.
