EKO HOT BLOG reports on the Manchester United vs. Everton premier league fixture that kicked off at 12:30 pm. lunch time at Old Trafford.
The fixture brought the Merseyside Blues of Everton in hostilities with the Red Devils of Manchester United in the Theatre of Dreams, to what ultimately became a 2-0 loss for the Toffees and a victory for the Red Army of Erik ten Hag.
A lot was riding into the game, with nerves surrounding Manchester United’s possibility of clinching top 4 amidst the team’s dwindling fortunes in recent games. However, the Old Trafford squad were able to continue their form from mid-week against Brentford to hit Everton with a surprise 2-0 package.
The result dooms Everton to a tight relegation battle as Sean Dyche aims to inspire his team to premier league survival. Manchester United on the other hand, have now regained their former spot in number 3 in the premier league standing, although with a game ahead of closest rival, Newcastle United.
Should Newcastle come up with a win in their game in hand, they will take over third place level on points with Manchester United with a far stronger goal difference.
The Red Devils had goals from Scott McTominay and new comer into the team after a spell on the sideline, Anthony Martial, aiding the Old Trafford side to an eventual 2-0 win.
Manchester United smiles home this weekend with 3 points to the bag and other games to look ahead of.
