The association president emphasized the importance of mutual support within the MOCOSA family.

“We’re here to support our friends who might be going through tough times. No one should feel left out, and we encourage everyone to ask for help if they need it. This celebration isn’t just about the past; it’s about enjoying the present and looking forward to the future as one big MOCOSA family,” he said.

Dr Kukoyi also gave insights on what attendees should expect from the celebration.

“We’re thinking of a celebration that captures the fun times we had together. From remembering our friends who are no longer here to catching up with old pals, we hope this reunion is a mix of memories and good vibes. Mrs Bisola Ayeni, one of the organisers echoed the sentiments of the MOCOSA ’69/’73 chairman, in a separate interview with Eko Hot Blog, saying the event will be about honouring departed members, supporting those facing challenges, unveiling impactful projects at their alma mater, and more.

“I am honored to be part of the organizing team for the MOCOSA ’69/’73 50th-anniversary celebration, and my aspirations are clear,” she said.

“We aim to coordinate events seamlessly, promote strong communication, unveil impactful projects benefitting our alma mater, ensure inclusivity for all attendees, thoughtfully honor departed members, offer unwavering support to those facing challenges, and guide our set towards a future marked by continued unity and shared achievements.

“Together, we are determined to make this celebration a lasting testament to the enduring spirit of MOCOSA ’69/’73.”

Reunion committee member, Bayo Odeniyi

On his part, Ven. Bayo Odeniyi, another old student, said the anniversary celebration is a forum of rejoicing and giving back to the ones who shaped their future.

He revealed that the association decided to renovate the staff room to ensure that teachers work in a conducive environment.

“This set that’s about to do a reunion is the set of 1969 to 1973. And by calculation, it is 50 years of graduation celebration,” Ven. Odeniyi said.

“We are rejoicing with ourselves, those of us that are still alive. Secondly, we are putting something back to the school. We have a project we want to commission and we want to rejoice with ourselves.

“We discovered that anytime something is done for the school, the teachers are always forgotten, so we decided to renovate the staff room, so that the teachers can go in and feel fine.”

He fondly reminisced about a memorable experience during his school days when he served as the second-choice goalkeeper. When the first-choice goalkeeper got injured, he stepped in and, against initial skepticism from his classmates, made crucial saves that led to a triumphant victory.

Chairperson, Reunion committee, Bunmi Odeniyi

Another member of the set, Mrs Bunmi Odeniyi, also disclosed the significance of MOCOSA ’69/’73 50th reunion celebration.

“We have all dispersed in a long time, though about 5 years after graduation we gathered together again but within that period till now, we have lost some of our colleagues and now decided to meet again so that some of us that have seen each other for a long time can meet and discuss on so many things and to see if we can be of help to each other. That is the purpose,” she said.

Mrs Odeniyi also disclosed upcoming projects at her alma mater, including the refurbishment of the staff room and a comprehensive facelift, including vibrant painting.

Member, Reunion committee, Tunji Owoyeye

Reflecting on her school days, she fondly reminisced about her active participation in the literary and debating society, shared memories from her time in the school hostel, and chuckled about the mischievous escapades of boys sneaking off to town.
