Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman of Epe Local Government, Surah Animashaun, has called on government leaders at all levels to renew their commitment to protect the rights and welfare of children.
She made the appeal on Monday in her Children’s Day Message.
Children’s Day is celebrated on May 27 of every year worldwide.
In her message of support, Animashaun acknowledged that children suffer multidimensional risks on their rights to survive, learn and be protected.
She, therefore, called on political leaders to stand tall in prioritising their rights and welfare.
“Every May 27 is a day to imagine a world without children; prompting us to want to create a better future for them as we celebrate World Children’s Day themed ‘For every Child, every right’,” the Epe LG boss stated.
“Children suffer multidimensional risks on their rights to survive, learn and be protected. And so, as leaders in government, there’s the need to renew our commitment to the protection of children’s right and prioritize their welfare.
“As parents, today is a time to reflect on these precious gifts that God has given to mankind and to shower them with love and gifts.”
Furthermore, Animashaun reiterated her commitment to safeguarding the well-being of children everyday she is in the office of the Chairman of the Epe LG.
“On this day, as the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, I reaffirm my commitment that my everyday in office will be spent on building a beautiful tomorrow for you, and providing caring initiatives that safeguard your well-being and nurture your dreams,” she said.
“Happy children’s day to the ones who make our future joyful and bright. I wish every beautiful child out there a happy children’s day celebration.”
