The Federal Government has earmarked a staggering ₦6.36bn for the renovation and rehabilitation of residential quarters for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides in the 2025 budget proposal.

A breakdown of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, presented to the National Assembly, reveals that ₦5.49bn is allocated for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa, while ₦765m is set aside for the renovation of the Vice President’s quarters and guest house.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the renovation of President Tinubu’s quarters at the State House will cost ₦6.39m, with an additional ₦49m allocated for upgrading security quarters, the auditorium, gymnasium, and residences of presidential aides.

Another ₦51m is designated for refurbishing the Prescott Barracks, Maple State House officers’ mess, and signal office in Asokoro, Abuja.

In terms of allowances and vehicles, ₦87m is reserved for honorarium and sitting allowances for the President and Vice President, while ₦127m will go toward purchasing SUVs.

Additionally, ₦3.66bn is budgeted for acquiring operational vehicles for the State House, and ₦1.09bn is allocated for replacing SUV vehicles at the State House.

Under the Lagos Liaison Office budget, ₦14.72m is planned for routine maintenance of facilities such as Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s guest houses in Ikoyi. A further ₦140.10m is allocated for the completion of renovation and furnishing at the State House Annex in Dodan Barracks, Lagos.

In an ambitious move, ₦1.83bn is set aside for converting properties forfeited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into State House quarters.

This decision aligns with the commission’s recent recovery of its largest asset: a sprawling estate in Abuja’s Lokogoma District.

The estate, comprising 753 duplexes and apartments across 150,500 square meters, was officially forfeited on December 2, 2024, by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie.

The budget highlights the Federal Government’s focus on maintaining and upgrading official residences while maximizing assets seized through anti-corruption efforts.
