Fast-rising entertainer Rento has spoken candidly about the tough side of show business, explaining why he has taken a step back from Nollywood while channelling his energy into music, where he says his talent is finally being embraced.

Rento disclosed that despite featuring in over 100 films, opportunities in the movie industry became increasingly scarce. He said roles were no longer offered on merit, noting that he often had to lobby intensely just to be considered.
However, music offered him a fresh start, as his songs have gained impressive traction, crossing one million streams across digital platforms.
Describing Nollywood as an industry that can stifle originality, the entertainer warned aspiring talents to tread carefully. He claimed that sincerity is rarely rewarded, alleging that only those willing to conform to unspoken rules gain easy access.
According to him, influential figures within the industry often create barriers that make growth unnecessarily difficult for passionate creatives.
Tracing his journey, Rento recalled starting out as a child actor in Ogbomosho before relocating to Lagos in search of bigger opportunities. Years of struggle eventually pushed him to focus on music, where he found a more receptive audience.
He described the transition as both emotional and spiritual, revealing that his songwriting journey began in unusual places, including moments of quiet reflection that helped him discover his true calling.

Rento stressed that he remains committed to personal values and has refused to compromise his principles for fame. While he has worked alongside notable Nollywood stars such as Odunlade Adekola, Mide Martins, Wunmi Toriola and Femi Adebayo, he believes his future lies firmly in music.
Currently enjoying international success, he revealed that his collaborative track Pasuma Wonder with Bhadboi OML has gained strong reception in countries like France and Somalia.
Looking ahead, Rento hinted at a shift towards love-themed songs and announced plans for an eight-track album slated for release in 2026, assuring fans that more hit records are on the way.
