Rep. Wale Raji Advocates for Safer Roads, Offers Condolences to Ayetoro Accident Victims
Hon. Wale Raji, representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has joined others to offer prayers for the victims of the tragic Ayetoro accident.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a prayer session was held yesterday to honour those who lost their lives and aimed to provide comfort to the grieving families.
During his address, Hon. Raji expressed heartfelt sympathy for the families of the victims, praying for healing and strength in this difficult time.
“I stand with the families of the victims, and I pray that God heals their broken hearts. Losing a loved one in such a tragic way is heartbreaking, and that’s why we are gathered here today to pray for the repose of their souls,” he said.
Raji also emphasized the importance of prayer during trying times and highlighted the need for improved safety measures concerning articulated vehicles. He called attention to the reckless behaviors of some drivers, including driving under the influence and neglecting vehicle maintenance.
“It’s troubling that some drivers engage in irresponsible behavior like drinking or smoking while driving. They continue to manage faulty vehicles, knowing they need repairs, and this procrastination has led to avoidable accidents. We need to address these issues thoroughly,” Raji remarked.
The lawmaker called for stricter monitoring of articulated vehicles, insisting that drivers responsible for accidents be held accountable. He advocated for justice and compensation for the families of the victims.
“The driver must be held responsible for this tragic incident. It’s not enough to mourn—we must ensure justice is served and that the families of the victims are compensated for their loss,” he added.
Hon. Raji commended the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation for their swift response to the accident and urged the Deputy Governor to explore measures to divert heavy-duty trucks away from residential areas.
“I appreciate the prompt action taken by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. However, I plead with the Deputy Governor to look into diverting these trucks away from residential areas, so such accidents don’t happen again,” he urged.
In conclusion, he lauded the efforts of the local government chairman for her commitment since the incident and prayed that such a tragedy would never befall the Epe community again.
“God forbid that we ever experience something like this in our community again. I commend the chairman for the efforts she has put in place after this tragic event,” he added.
