The event was graced by prominent figures, including former Lagos State First Lady, Doja Otedola; the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Babatunde Ogunlaja JP; the Adegbajo of Odo-Gbawojo, HRM Oba Fatai Adelani; and Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, Chairman of Eredo LCDA.
In his address, Rep. Wale Raji congratulated the association on reviving the Okemagba Development Presidential Club, recalling that the last time such an initiative was witnessed was during Hon. Onabokun’s tenure as a member of the Lagos State Cabinet while he served as Permanent Secretary.
Raji emphasized that leadership is not for personal gain but for creating a lasting positive impact on the lives of the people. “As leaders, we must focus on the development of our communities. This has been my guiding principle since I assumed office,” he stated.
He stressed the importance of unity among political and community leaders, saying, “Years ago, we had political icons from Epe—commissioners, House of Assembly members—but they did not work together. Today, I’m glad to see that unity is being prioritized.”
Rep. Raji then outlined several key road projects aimed at improving infrastructure across Eredo LCDA, including:
Palace Road in Poka,
Alhaji Olooto Street in Iraye,
Odoshiwola Road in Okemagba,
Tolani Agbaje Street in Noforija, and
The planned Odo-Gbawojo Road, set to commence in 2025.
Addressing challenges faced by market traders, he criticized developers prioritizing profit over community needs and announced several interventions:
Completion of Mojoda Market with over 100 shops allocated free of charge,
Ongoing construction at Pobo Market and Aladepekun Market in Odo Egiri,
Ongoing construction at Mowowale Market in Agbowa, and
Completion of Itokin Market, featuring 120 open stalls and 45 lock-up shops now allocated to traders.
He also revealed plans for the Michael Otedola Market in Odoragunshin, modeled after the successful Ayetoro Market in Epe, which will feature 400 shops to be allocated free of charge by next year.
“Our markets must serve our people. We cannot allow non-indigenes to take control of our local markets,” Raji said, drawing loud applause.
Highlighting his achievements in education, Rep. Raji listed completed and ongoing school projects, including:
Construction of 12 classrooms at Pobuna Secondary School in Poka,
Six classrooms at Adeshowon Grammar School in Ilara,
New classrooms and furniture at Odomola Community High School and Noforija Primary School, and
Upgraded facilities at Igboye Community High School.
“These projects are essential for providing quality education and a brighter future for our children,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the ODA leadership, Mr. Segun Osifeko praised Rep. Raji’s contributions, stating, “His work reflects the true essence of representation—putting people first. His achievements in roads, markets, and education inspire hope.”
In his closing remarks, Rep. Raji reaffirmed his dedication to serving the community: “Leadership is about securing lives, improving welfare, and leaving a positive impact. Together, we will transform Okemagba and the entire Epe Division,” he pledged.
