Ekohotblog reports that residents of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA in Lagos State on Saturday gathered to celebrate Agbowa Day with a special event – the groundbreaking of the new Mowowale Market.
Rep. Wale Raji, Federal Representative Representing Epe Constituency, who was the Father of the Day, led the ceremony, marking a step toward improving business opportunities in the community.
Speaking at the event, Rep. Wale Raji said, “I don’t want Ikosi-Ejinrin Day to be just about merriment anymore. From now on, it should be a day to celebrate new achievements.
That is why I’m using this opportunity to start the construction of the Mowowale Market.
The market will be ready in three months, and it will be allocated to market women free of charge.”
Rep. Raji also listed other projects he has worked on in the area.
He mentioned the Agbowa Vocational Center, which will be handed over to the council before the end of the year, and the Agbowa stadium, which is almost complete.
He also spoke about the 520 market shops built at Itokin, with an additional 45 new ones, all given to market women for free.
He made mention of other projects include a new block of classrooms at Lofi Ogunmude High School, a 750-seat town hall, and the first secondary school in Temu.
The ceremony was attended by many important figures, including the Abowa of Agbowa,
His Royal Majesty, Oba Owolabi Saheed Momson, the Elejinrin of Ejinrin Kingdom Oba Babatunde Balogun, the Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA,Otunba Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, the Iyaloja (market leader), and other community leaders.
They all praised Rep. Wale Raji for his good work to the development of the area and Epe Constituency at large.
The Abowa of Agbowa said, “Wale Raji has shown that he is truly committed to our community.
The new Mowowale Market will really help our market women and bring more business to Agbowa.”
The Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba Akogun also expressed his gratitude, saying,
“We are fortunate to have a representative like Wale Raji. His projects, from schools to markets,recreational centers,and roads, have really made life easier for our people.”
The Iyaloja added saying, “The free market shops is a blessing to us.
Many women here have struggled to afford space to sell their goods before now, but they don’t have to worry anymore because Wale Raji has really made a difference in our lives.”
