The Nigerian House of Representatives has opposed a bill seeking to relocate the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) headquarters back to Lagos, Eko Hot Blog reports.
FIIRO, which has operated in Lagos for over 60 years, had its headquarters moved to Abuja through the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Act of 2023.

Fayinka Moses Oluwatoyin, the lead sponsor of the bill, argued that FIIRO’s long-standing presence in Lagos and its state-of-the-art equipment make it imperative to maintain the city as its operational base.

He said while it is ideal to have the Institute operate regional offices in the six zones, it is unhealthy to move the headquarters of the Institute from Lagos.
