EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, who confirmed that the solemn event will take place at 11 a.m. in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
According to the week’s notice paper released by the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Francis Waive, the session will pay tribute to the lives and legacies of five lawmakers who died during the current legislative term.
Among them is Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, former Deputy Chief Whip representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, who passed away in January 2025. Others include Hon. Abdulkadir Danbuga (Isa/Sabon Birni, Sokoto), who died in October 2023; Hon. Isa Dogonyaro (Garki/Babura, Jigawa), who died in May 2024; Hon. Olaide Akinremi (Ibadan North, Oyo), who passed in July 2024; and Hon. Ekene Adams (Chikun/Kajuru, Kaduna), who also died in July 2024.
The families of the deceased lawmakers, party leaders, colleagues, and dignitaries from across the country are expected to attend the session, which will feature tributes, moments of silence, and ceremonial rites in accordance with parliamentary tradition.
The Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq., noted that tributes will be led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and principal officers, followed by reflections from members, party representatives, and invited guests.
“Their voices helped shape debates, motions, bills, and constituency projects. Each left an indelible mark on the 10th House through committee work, caucus engagement, and contributions to the legislative process,” the statement read.
Rotimi added that the loss of sitting lawmakers is not only personal but also an institutional moment of mourning, highlighting both the responsibilities of leadership and the brevity of life.
“As the 10th Assembly approaches its midterm in June 2025, the valedictory session offers a solemn space for remembrance and a renewed commitment to the ideals of national representation,” he said.

Members of the public, media, and civil society are encouraged to follow the proceedings via the official broadcast and digital platforms of the House of Representatives.
