Residents Stay Indoors As IPOB Sit-at-home Order Grounds Activities In Imo

  • According to reports, public and private offices, including banks, schools and markets were shut in compliance with the IPOB sit-at-home order

EKO HOT BLOG reports that economic and commercial activities were were moving at a snail’s pace on Monday in Owerri, the Imo state capital as residents stayed indoors in compliance with the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to reports, public and private offices, including banks, schools and markets were shut.

The ever-busy Wethedral Road, Imo state University junction, government house Roundabout, Ikenegbu roads and Douglas Roads were literally shadows of themselves.

Only a few roadside food and newspapers’ vendors were seen selling to people who came out to buy food and newspapers.

Sources say security operatives mounted a road block at Orji Flyover on Owerri- Okigwe Road and on Aba- Owerri Road.

The popular Alaba international market located on Owerri- Aba Road was reported shut and that artisans were seen waiting and attending to motorists on the roads leading to the market.

While the Naza and Umuonyeali Wood markets were shut, the Naza industrial cluster market on Federal University of Technology- Federal polytechnic Nekede Road was open but with few people transacting businesses.
