Resumption Of Lagos-Kano Train Postponed
- The planned resumption of the Lagos-Kano train by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has been postponed.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has postponed the planned resumption of the Lagos-Kano express train.
It was gathered that the Lagos-Kano was postponed over what the NRC officials described as “terrible washout” on the tracks which was caused by recent downpours.
The Lagos-Kano express train was earlier suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that along the old narrow-gauge track which the train has been operated, the 1,126-kilometer track had experienced some washouts and vandalisation prompting the NRC to deploy its engineers to fix the tracks traversing Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Niger, among others.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation subsequently fixed Friday, August 13, 2021, for the resumption of the Lagos-Kano train service, mostly patronized by Northern traders, and operated on Fridays.
It was, however, gathered that the planned resumption was put on hold due to the washouts experienced in parts of Osun State.
As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the latest development was confirmed by the NRC Director of Operations, Mr. Niyi Ali, saying the NRC regretted the inconvenience caused by the postponement which he blamed on the heavy downpour.
