2023 KOGI, IMO & BAYELSA GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION UPDATES
Rhodes-Vivour Plotting To Incite Ethnic Crisis In Lagos – APC
-
The Lagos governorship election held on March 18, 2023.
-
The electoral commission declared the incumbent governor as the winner of the election.
-
However, his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has refused to concede, accusing the ruling party of voter suppression and intimidation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that some unnamed groups connected to the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, are mobilising the residents of the state to cause ethnic chaos in the state.
The allegation comes amid Rhodes-Vivour’s refusal to concede to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC, who was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship poll in Lagos.
EDITOR’S PICKS
The LP candidate has accused the ruling APC of intimidating voters and suppressing votes.
He recently wrote the International Criminal Court (ICC), asking it to investigate crimes against humanity in Lagos after some LP supporters were wounded by thugs allegedly loyal to the APC during the election.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the APC Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, alleged that some people who are not happy with the outcome of the election are holding meetings on Twitter Spaces on how to disturb the peace of the state.
According to him, the opposition’s claims of voter intimidation are aimed at discrediting the outcome of the election.
Oladejo also claimed that Rhodes-Vivour introduced ethnicity into politics in Lagos although it was APC supporters who often kicked against the LP candidate’s governorship bid due to him having an Igbo mother (His father is Yoruba).
The APC spokesperson in Lagos further alleged that Rhodes-Vivour aimed to incite one tribe against another for his political interest.
