Rihanna, J Cole, Drake, Others Mourn Nipsey Hussle, Rapper Shot Dead In Los Angeles
Celebrities and musicians in the entertainment industry are paying tributes to Grammy-nominated US rapper, Nipsey Hussle, who was shot dead in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 33-year-old father of two was gunned down outside his Los Angeles clothing shop, Marathon Store in a shooting incident that left two other people hospitalised.
The deceased rapper, who also went by the alias The Great, had, prior to his death, sent out an ominous tweet which read: “Having strong enemies is a blessing”.
Among a flurry of tributes that trailed Hussle’s death is that of Drake, who expressed his sadness over the rapper’s demise by describing him as “a man of respect and a don.”
“My whole energy is just at a low right now hearing this. We just linked for the first time in years and said we were gonna do a new song this summer cause it had been too long. You were having the best run and I was so happy watching from distance fam nobody ever talks down on your name you were a real one to your people and to the rest of us. I’m only doing this here cause I want the world to know I saw you as a man of respect and a don. Rest easy my G,” Drake wrote in parts.
On her own, Rihanna also expressed shock over the development, writing: “This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken! Dear God, may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones! I’m so sorry this happened to you @nipseyhussle.”
While conveying his gratitude to the deceased rapper for his commitment to the service of his immediate community, J Cole called Hussle a legend and wrote: “I respect and admire your career path and what you did for the neighborhood. My heart broke today when I saw the news. I’m praying for your loved ones. This was supposed to be the year we got one in. God had bigger plans for you.”

His debut album, Victory Lap nominated for the ‘Best Rap Album’ category at the 2019 Grammy Awards against Cardi B; Mac Miller; Pusha T; and Travis Scott, with Hussle making increasing inroad into the music industry.
