Ritualists Mutilate Three-Month-Old Nasarawa Baby’s Private Parts

Mrs. Zule Inusa has cried out over her three-month-old grandchild’s defilement by suspected ritualist in Adogi, Lafia local government area of Nasarawa state.

Inusa, while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, said part of her child’s private region was cut off and appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule, security outfits and other stakeholders, for justice to be served by arresting the culprits.

Unable to control her tears, the grandmother explained she was sleeping on the night of the incident, May 27, 2020, when her daughter came screaming that her baby was missing.

She said the doors to their room was left open due to excess heat in the area.

After searching for the baby, members of the community found the baby bleeding from her private parts about seven kilometers away from the grandmother’s residence in an uncompleted building.

Inusa, traumatized, said the family raised N130,000 for treatment of the baby at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, by selling some items and sympathizers contributed a sum of N243,000 before doctors at the hospital commenced treatment.

Further narrating, she said when the victim was found, she was rushed to a private hospital in Adogi. Still, the case could not be handled as she was referred to DASH, where they would also refer them to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where the baby is currently being treated.

“The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, when suddenly I woke up around 3 am and discovered that my baby was missing. I checked my phone, which I kept by my bedside, and discovered that it was also missing,” the victim’s mother stated.

The case was reported to the Adogi Police station a day after the incident, but there was no police personnel on duty.
